A Level 2 inspector performs the complete visual checklist, then takes the vehicle on a highway test drive where issues invisible at city speed show themselves: vibration above 80 km/h, high-speed braking response, transmission hesitation under load, and wind noise indicating poor door seals.

After the drive, the inspector plugs into the OBD-II port and reads every stored and pending fault code in the vehicle's ECU. What's included

A Red Seal or equivalent master technician takes the vehicle to a licensed shop for the most thorough inspection we offer. The car goes up on a hoist so the undercarriage can be inspected in full — subframe condition, CV boots and axles, exhaust system integrity, suspension components, and any active fluid leaks that are invisible from above.

Brake pad thickness and rotor wear are measured with a micrometer and recorded in the report. Compression and leak-down tests reveal internal engine health with hard numbers: worn piston rings, burnt valves, and head gasket failure all show up here — tests that catch problems a visual inspection or OBD scan simply cannot find. Includes all OBD-II diagnostics as standard.

Who this is for

What's included

An Ontario Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) is a legal requirement when selling or registering a used vehicle in Ontario. The certificate can only be issued by a licensed Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) with a Ministry-authorized inspector on staff.

The inspection covers all safety-critical systems mandated by the Highway Traffic Act: brakes (pad thickness, rotor condition, hydraulic integrity), steering and suspension components, tires (tread depth, sidewall condition, proper mounting), lighting (all exterior lights, turn signals, hazards), glazing (windshield cracks, wiper operation), and structural components. A passing vehicle receives the certificate; a failing vehicle gets a written deficiency list so you know exactly what needs repair before it can be certified.

Required when buying or selling privately in Ontario, transferring ownership, or registering a vehicle that has been off-road. Book at least 48 hours in advance — the inspection is conducted at an approved facility.
