Inspecteam Inc. ("Inspecteam," "we," "us," or "our") operates the vehicle inspection booking platform at inspecteam.ca. We connect vehicle buyers with certified inspectors across Ontario, Canada to provide professional pre-purchase inspections and inspection reports.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
Customers (Buyers)
- Full name, email address, and phone number
- Vehicle details (VIN, year, make, model, mileage, colour)
- Vehicle location address (city, province, postal code)
- Payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store card numbers)
- Dealership contact details when applicable
Inspectors
- Full name, email address, and phone number
- City, province, and postal code
- Professional credentials: licence number, OBD scanner model, certifications
- Shop details: address, hoist availability, pickup/drop-off capability
- Availability schedule (days and preferred hours)
- Profile photo (optional)
- E-transfer email address for payouts
All Users
- Account credentials (email and hashed password — passwords are never stored in plain text)
- Profile information you voluntarily provide (bio, notes)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Geographic coordinates: Postal codes are geocoded to latitude/longitude using OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) to match inspectors with nearby orders.
- Log data: Server logs may capture your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps for security and debugging purposes.
- Device tokens: If you use our mobile app (iOS/Android), we collect device push notification tokens to send you job and order notifications.
2.3 Inspection Data
When an inspection is conducted, the following data is collected and stored: inspection checklist results, OBD-II diagnostic fault codes, inspection photos (including damage close-ups), vehicle history disclosures, CARFAX report content (if provided), and inspector notes and AI-generated scoring and recommendations.

4. AI Processing
Inspection reports are scored using Claude (by Anthropic Inc.), a large language model. We send inspection checklist data, OBD codes, and vehicle history text to the Claude API for scoring. We do not send personally identifiable information (name, email, phone) to the AI. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how API data is handled.
5. How We Share Your Information
5.1 Between Platform Participants
When a job is matched, the inspector's name, level, city, and contact details are shared with the customer as needed to complete the inspection. The customer's vehicle location and contact preference are shared with the assigned inspector. Approved inspectors' names, city, level, rating, bio, and profile photo appear publicly on the Inspecteam inspector directory.

5.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Inspecteam, our users, or the public.
6. Data Retention

7. Security
- Passwords are hashed using Django's PBKDF2-SHA256 algorithm — never stored in plain text
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS)
- Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers
- JWT tokens expire within 24 hours (access) and 30 days (refresh)
- File storage uses private AWS S3 buckets in the ca-central-1 (Canada) region

8. Your Rights (PIPEDA)
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to access, correct, withdraw consent for, or request deletion of your personal information. Email privacy@inspecteam.ca — we will respond within 30 days.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC): priv.gc.ca
9. Cookies and Tracking
Inspecteam.ca uses LocalStorage/SessionStorage to store your JWT authentication token. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
10. Children's Privacy
Our platform is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. Contact privacy@inspecteam.ca if you believe we have done so.
11. International Data Transfers
Your data is primarily stored in AWS ca-central-1 (Montreal). Some service providers may process data in the United States under appropriate safeguards consistent with PIPEDA.
12. Changes to This Policy
We will notify registered users by email and display a notice on the platform for 30 days before material changes take effect.
